The Rev. LaMontagne grew up in Hungary, where she received her formal schooling, graduating from the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen, Debrecen, Hungary in 1999 with her Master of Divinity degree. From Hungary, she traveled to Lancaster, PA, where she attended Lancaster Theological Seminary, graduating in 2000 with a Master of Arts in Religion.
From Lancaster, she furthered her formal education by attending the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom, graduating in 2004 with a Master of Arts in Jewish-Christian Relations. Following the University of Cambridge, she returned to Hungary, attending the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen, graduating in 2008 with her PhD in Theology.
During these years of study, the Rev. LaMontagne held various church positions. She served as Assistant Minister of the Reformed Church in Szeged, Hungary, during the 2000-2001 year. From there, she served as Lecturer at the Reformed Theological University, Debrecen, Hungary, where she taught courses in Jewish-Christian Relations, History of Religion, and Spiritual Disciplines during the period of 2004-2005. Following this time, the Rev. Lamontagne served as Minister of Music for St. Andrew’s Church in Bridgeton, NJ, during 2006-07, where she played the organ, piano, guitar, and encouraged other members to begin practicing on instruments which they had long given up.
Rev. LaMontagne’s most recent position has been serving as Associate Minister for DeWitt Community Church, in DeWitt, NY, near Syracuse. She has been with DeWitt Community Church since 2007, preaching, leading worship, doing pastoral care, coordinating small groups, and performing weddings, baptisms, and funerals. An important part of her job at DeWitt is to do pastoral care in non-traditional settings. She has served the congregation by making house calls to shut-ins, along with regular visits to nursing homes and hospitals. Additionally, she has guided their members with spiritual direction, and religious education, in both personal and group settings.
The Rev. Dr. LaMontagne brings to United Church of Christ Federated, Webster a strong educational and theological background, a sound work ethic, and a wonderful, warm personality. We look forward to a long relationship with her and her and her husband, Tancrede.
